“Steep Game”


VF International SAGL – THE NORTH FACE DIVISION, (European Headquarters) Via Laveggio 5 - 6855 Stabio, Switzerland (hereinafter the "Promotion Company") is organising a contest called "Steep Game" (the "Contest").

Entry into the Contest is free and no purchase is necessary, however the Contest requires participants to have access to: (i) a PC, PS4 or Xbox One, where they can play the video game STEEP® by Ubisoft Entertainment (hereinafter “STEEP GAME”), (ii) the game STEEP GAME; (iii) the internet and (iv) their own Instagram or Twitter account.

By entering into the Contest, participants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by the Contest Rules.

Promotional Period

The Contest runs from 00:00 CET on 11 January 2017 until 17:00 CET on 20 January 2017 (the "Promotional Period").


Entry into this Contest is open only to legal residents of Great Britain, France, Germany, Sweden, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain, Denmark, Finland and Luxembourg, who are at least eighteen (18) years of age (hereinafter “Entrant/s”).

How to enter:

During the Promotional Period all Entrants who play the STEEP GAME on one of the available platforms (PC, PS4 or Xbox One) will have the possibility to enter the Contest. Entrants will have to:

·         reach the level required to unlock the option to wear The North Face (“TNF”) in-game gear;

·         exercise the option to wear the TNF in-game gear and attempt the TNF quest of the game;

·         record their attempts, while wearing the TNF in-game gear, by either registering in-game footage (“Video”) or taking still screenshots of in-game actions (“Photo”) using the available build-in tool of the game platform or PC;

·         share their Photo/Video via their own Instagram and\or Twitter account with the required hashtags #SteepSeries_SteepGame.

Each Photo or Video shared on Instagram or Twitter via Entrants’ own account with the required promotional hashtags #SteepSeries_SteepGame and complying with these Contest Rules, will be considered an entry into the Contest (“Entry”).

All Entrants must have internet access and an Instagram or Twitter account to enter the Contest.

You must be an active holder of a non-private Twitter account and be a follower of the page @TheNorthFaceEU to be eligible to enter this Contest via Twitter (i.e., you must make sure your tweets are set to “public” and not “private”).

To enter via Instagram, Entrants must follow the account @thenorthface. Also, Entrants must make sure the “Photos Are Private” option in the account settings on their Instagram account are set to “OFF”.

If Entrants do not have an Instagram or Twitter account, they can sign up for a free Instagram or Twitter account.

Photos/Videos may be posted in a Contest gallery on the Promotion Company’s website, in the Promotion Company’s sole and absolute discretion. 

Entering via Twitter or Instagram, standard data fees may apply. Entrants should consult their wireless service provider's pricing plan for details. Entrants agree to incur any and all charges demanded by their wireless carrier and the Promotion Company shall in no way be liable to entrants for the same.


Entrants can share as many Photos and Videos as they like, however only the most voted Photo or Video for each social media channel will be taken into consideration for the selection of finalists: one (1) Photo or one (1) Video, via Instagram and one (1) Photo or one (1) Video, via Twitter.

Limit one (1) prize per Entrant or household.

Entrants not residents in one of the eligible countries will not allowed to enter this Contest.

Employees of the Promotion Company, employees of all controlled, affiliated or controlling companies, and other people involved in the organisation and management of the Contest may not enter the Contest.

Entrant liability with regard to their Photo/Video

By sharing their photos and\or videos, Entrants accept these Contest Rules in their entirety and declare that:

a.    they are the author and owner of all copyright and intellectual property rights in the Photos/Videos shared on Instagram or Twitter (excluding any copyright and intellectual property rights owned by Ubisoft Entertainment) and that the Photos/Videos are the result of their own performance while playing at STEEP GAME and have not been copied or reproduced from any other source or third parties;

b.    the Photo/Video comply with all applicable laws in England and Wales;

c.     the Photo/Video is not in violation of any laws and in particular that the Photo/Video is not a reproduction and does not infringe upon any intellectual property rights, moral rights, copyrights, third party personal data protection rights, publication rights and in general terms that the Photo/Video respects the provisions of law in regard to copyrights and any other regulations or laws in force;

d.    they undertake to grant to the Promotion Company a non-exclusive, royalty free licence to use, adapt, publish, modify, distribute, reproduce and display the Photo/Video in whole or in part, on a worldwide basis, in perpetuity, and to incorporate it into other works, in any form, media or technology now known or later developed, including, but not limited to, on any and all Internet media, including in the Contest gallery and on Promotion Company’s website or related websites and social networking platforms (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest etc.), for any purpose whatsoever, including for promotional, advertising or marketing purposes (except where prohibited by law), until such time as the Entrant chooses to revoke such rights.

e.    they are wholly liable for the Photo/Video shared and will consequently indemnify the Promotion Company against any liability it incurs as a result of the Photo/Video failing to comply with the conditions set out in these Contest Rules; and

f.     they agree to take part in any reasonable publicity required by the Promotion Company, should they win one of the Prizes available under the Contest. 


Every shared Photo and Video will be moderated. The Promotion Company reserves its right to refuse entry to Photos and Videos in each case which:

a.       are  out of keeping with the spirit of Contest in the Promotion Company's sole opinion;

b.       contain content which has been copied from other sources;

c.       are not wearing the required TNF in-game gear;   

c.       contain content not related to the Contest theme.   

Only if the entry is judged suitable by the Promotion Company's moderators, shall it be entered into the Contest. The Promotion Company may at its sole and absolute discretion, publish some Photos and Videos to its web site, social networks or any other media.

The method for awarding prizes:

At the end of the Promotional Period, final ranking shall be drawn according to the total Social Engagements (as defined below) received for each valid Photo and Video shared on Instagram or Twitter.

The total Social Engagements that will generate the ranking will be evaluated according to the following point system for each entry:

-       1 point for every like received on Instagram;

-       1 point for every like received on Twitter;

-       1 point for every retweet on Twitter,

each a "Social Engagement" and together the "Social Engagements"

If an Entrant submits the same Photo or Video on Instagram and Twitter, these will be considered as two separate entries with each accruing a separate total number of Social Engagements.

If an Entrant submits two or more different Photos or Videos, each will be considered as a separate entry with each accruing a separate total number of Social Engagements.

In the event of a tie, the order of ranking shall be decided according to the order in which the Video or Photo was uploaded to Twitter or Instagram i.e. the best ranked will be the Entrant who first shared his/her Photo/Video.

On or about 30/01/2017, the top thirty (30) Photos/Videos by Social Engagements will be judged by a judging panel selected by the Promotion Company ("Judging Panel"). Photos/Videos will be judged based on the following equally-weighted judging criteria (“Judging Criteria”): (a) Originality and (b) Creativity. 

The Judging Panel will determine eleven (11) winners, from first to eleventh place, in order of preference according to the Judging Criteria among the first 30 Photos/Videos ranked.

The Judging Panel will also determine ten (10) runner-ups. A runner-up shall only be used if a winner fails to claim their prize in accordance with these Contest Rules or is disqualified from the Contest for any reason.

The selection of the winners and runner-ups is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

In the event of not enough Entrants to award all prizes, the Promotion Company reserves its right not to award such prizes.

* The main prize consists of one day of exploring the destination resort with Victor and Xavier De Le Rue. Included in the package: return flight from closest international airport to winners’ home, shuttle pick up and drop off from destination airport, one-night accommodation at 3-star hotel or equivalent, breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided by the Promotion Company during the trip. Winner will be responsible for bringing or renting all necessary mountaineering gear. The prize does not include travel between the winner’s home and the airport, travel insurance, personal expenditure or any additional costs, other than where explicitly mentioned in these Contest Rules.

Winner must be able to travel between 01/02/2017 and 30/04/2017 on the dates designated by Promotion Company or Prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate Winner.

Promotion Company is not liable for delays, cancellation or unforeseen events related to the flights and trip. The Promoting Company is not responsible if meeting with Victor and Xavier De La Rue is delayed, postponed or cancelled due to events outside of its reasonable control, in which case that portion of Prize is forfeited in its entirety and no substitution will be provided, except as in Promoting Company’s sole discretion. In such event, Promoting Company shall have the option, in its sole discretion, to substitute a different prize activity.

The Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) of any prize listed is subject to price fluctuations in the consumer marketplace based on, among other things, any gap in time between the date the ARV is estimated for purposes of these Contest Rules, and the date the prize is awarded or redeemed.  If the actual purchase price of a prize is less than the ARV stated herein, the prize winner will not be entitled to a cheque, cash or other form of payment for the price difference. The prizes are not transferable to any other person, and no cash or other alternative arrangements will be offered.

Notification to winners:

If an Instagram entrant is a winner, he/she shall be notified by a private message and/or by the Promotion Company posting a comment to the potential winner’s submission on his/her Instagram account.

If a Twitter entrant is a winner, he\she will be notified by a private message through Twitter.

Winners must therefore ‘like’ or ‘follow’ the Promotion Company’s Instagram account @thenorthface or Twitter account @TheNorthFaceEU in order to be contacted about prizes.

Winners will have seven (7) days from being notified of their win to reply to the notification of win accepting the prize and providing all the information requested by the Promotion Company.

If any potential winner within seven (7) calendar days of first notification attempt cannot be contacted, fail to provide the information requested, if the Promotion Company’s account is blocked from contacting the potential winner via private message on Instagram or Twitter, if any prize or notification of win is returned as undeliverable, if potential winner rejects his/her prize, or in the event of noncompliance with these Contest Rules and requirements, such prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to a runner-up.

The first runner-up will be contacted in the same manner as described above and, if necessary, the process repeated until the prize is finally awarded to a runner-up.

In the event that having followed the awarding process described above, a prize cannot be given to a winner or runner-up, the Promotion Company reserves its right not to award said prize.

Upon prize forfeiture, no compensation will be given.

The Promotion Company reserves the right to require winners to provide a valid form of identification proving their age and identity before receiving their prize.  Any identity verification document produced must be in the name of the person who has entered the Contest.

Secondary prizes will be delivered by the Promotion Company to the winner’s address within 60 days of the winner formally accepting his/her prize.


The Promotion Company will be collecting personal data about Entrants online, for the purpose of administrating the Contest in accordance with its privacy policy. 

By participating in the Contest, Entrants hereby agree to the Promotion Company’s collection and usage of their personal information and acknowledge that they have read and accepted the Promotion Company’s privacy policy.

The Promotion Company reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, extend or suspend this Contest or its rules should (in its sole discretion) virus, bugs, non-authorized human intervention, fraud or other causes beyond its reasonable control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness or proper conduct of the Contest. In such case, the Promotion Company may select the winner from all eligible Entries received prior to and/or after (if appropriate) the action taken by the Promotion Company.

Upon suspension or cancellation the Promotion Company cannot be held liable for any expenses uncured or damages suffered, whether direct, indirect, consequential or inconsequential, and the Promotion Company shall not be obliged to organize any alternative Contest or offer any alternative prize.

Proof of submission will not be deemed to be proof of receipt by the Promoting Company.

All terms and conditions of, Instagram apply.

Multiple entrants are not permitted to share the same Twitter or Instagram account. Any attempt by any Entrant to obtain more than the stated number of Entries by using multiple/different Twitter or Instagram accounts, or any other methods will void that Entrant's Entries and that Entrant may be disqualified. Use of any automated system to submit Entries is prohibited and will result in disqualification.  In the event of a dispute as to any Twitter or Instagram, account, the authorized account holder of the email address used to register on the platform will be deemed to be the Entrant. Each winner may be required to show proof of being the authorized account holder.

The Promotion Company may prohibit an Entrant from participating in the Contest or winning a prize if, in its sole discretion, it determines that said Entrant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, hacking, deception, or other unfair playing practices (including the use of automated quick Entry programs) or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other Entrants or Promotion Company representatives.

For the avoidance of doubt, Ubisoft Entertainment, publisher of the STEEP GAME, is not involved in the organization and execution of the Contest, meaning that Ubisoft Entertainment and/or its affiliates and/or their respective directors, officers, employees, agents and licensors shall not be liable held liable for any and all claims, damages and liabilities whatsoever resulting from the organization and/or the execution of this Contest.

The Promotion Company is not responsible for any technical problems or human error that may result in an Entry not being received or being lost or damaged or for any destruction or alteration of, or unauthorized access to, Contest Entries.

The Promotion Company reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of Entries and Entrants (including an Entrant's identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify any Entry that is not in accordance with these rules.

Save where the Promotion Company has been negligent, the Promotion Company shall in no way be liable for any injuries, losses, damages or expenses suffered or incurred by any winner of the Contest, as a direct or indirect result of participating in this Contest and/or accepting a prize.

The full costs of participation in the Contest are entirely at the expense of the Entrant. In no case can the Entrant recover the cost of his or her participation from the Promotion Company.

Winners will be solely responsible for any federal, state or local taxes relating to their prize.

Acceptance of these Rules is a condition of entry into the Contest and entry indicates full acceptance of these Rules.

The Promotion Company’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into except with the winners to notify them that they have won and to provide the prizes.

The prizes quoted are subject to availability and, in the event of unforeseen circumstances, or circumstances outside of the Promotion Company reasonable control, the Promotion Company reserves the right to amend, withdraw or substitute any part of this Promotion Company competition and/or prize for an alternative arrangement of equal or greater value.

The prizes are not transferable, and no cash or other alternative arrangements will be offered.

Failure by the Promotion Company to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.

This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Twitter or Instagram.

In case of any discrepancy between the English and the translated versions of these Official Rules, the English version prevails.

The Promotion Company shall make the name of the prize winners available upon an entrant's request for 60 days after the Promotion Period has closed.

If any term of these rules shall be found to be void or contrary to law, such term shall be deemed to be severable from the other terms and provisions herein, and the remainder of the rules shall remain in effect.

These rules shall be governed by English law and the courts of England and Wales shall have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
