Biography

Markus grew up in South Tyrol where the spectacular mountains and colourful ski culture triggered an intense passion for skiing and adventure. He started out ski racing and was good at it, too, but it just wasn’t enough for creative, young Markus. Instead, he focused on freestyle skiing, a decision which changed the course of his career.

After sweeping the competition circuit in Italy he took on his first international comp, Nine Knights, in 2010. Thanks to a video competition he secured a wild card to compete as a rookie against some of the biggest names in freestyle skiing. And he only went and won the whole thing. This sent Markus down a new path. He took his floaty, trick-heavy park riding into the backcountry and won the Red Bull Linecatcher in 2011.
